Collective Threat Response Initiative (CTRI) Announces Appointment of Distinguished Advisory Board Members

Arlington, VA – July 8, 2024

Amidst the escalating antisemitic threats and attacks against the Jewish community, the non-profit Collective Threat Response Initiative (CTRI) is proud to announce the appointment of three esteemed individuals to its advisory board. These appointments underscore CTRI's commitment to enhancing the safety and security of the Jewish community of the Greater Washington area through strategic leadership and expertise.

Joining the Advisory Board are:

IDF Lt. Col. (res.) Lior Shahaf - With an illustrious career spanning 27 years in the IDF Special Forces, Lt. Col. Shahaf brings invaluable expertise in international operations collaborations. He has served as CTU Section Commander in the LOTAR Counter-Terror Unit, Deputy Commander of the Oketz K9 Unit, and in leadership positions in Sayeret Matkal and Shaldag. His extensive experience in building infrastructure and facilitating international projects between military entities makes him a pivotal asset to CTRI. Lt. Col. Shahaf's dedication to service was exemplified during the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th.

IDF Col. (ret.) Prof. Isaac Ashkenazi, MD - Professor Ashkenazi is internationally recognized as an expert in disaster management, community resilience, and medical preparedness for complex emergencies. With a distinguished career that includes serving as the former director of the Urban Terrorism Preparedness Project at NPLI Harvard University and as a professor of disaster medicine at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, Prof. Ashkenazi brings unparalleled expertise to CTRI. His involvement in shaping the White House's Stop the Bleed campaign underscores his commitment to proactive measures in mitigating mass casualty events.

Rina Schiff - As the director of marketing and communications at the Mayberg Foundation, Ms. Schiff brings more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit marketing and communications within the Greater Washington and Baltimore Jewish communities. Her strategic insights and extensive network will be instrumental in amplifying CTRI's mission and enhancing community engagement efforts.

Based in Northern Virginia, CTRI, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is dedicated to training and empowering the Jewish community.  Through our volunteer-based model, our primary mission is to provide professional, trained, and licensed armed security services to our community.  Our Advisory Board provides its expertise to enable us to uphold the principles of safety, vigilance, and resilience.
